The Mukteswar annual dance festival being mounted in Bhubaneswar by Orissa tourism has arrested the attention of the Odissi dancers and admirers fraternity the world over for its focus on Odissi and variety as well.
The only festival of its kind in the world that showcases the best of Odissi in solo, duet and group format, the recently concluded four-day event proved its uniqueness with some of the best known artistes and troupes participating in it.
Guru Ramahari Das would present the chorus during the inaugural evening, Rajashri Praharaj, a young dancer from city-based Srjan dance institution and disciple of Guru Ratikant Mohapatra would perform as a soloist. It would be followed by duet dance by Kolkata-based Saswati Garai and Ayona Bhaduri; both disciples of Sharmila Biswas and the concluding group presentation would be by Guru Gajendra Panda’s Tridhara dance school of Bhubaneswar.
