Bada Arkha Palli - Name of a village in the district of Ganjam.
Bada Da'nda - The grand road extending from the Lion's Gate (Simhad-vara) up to the Gundica Temple. The distance in between is exactly 2688. 0696 metres (8327 feet).
Bada Deula Paricha - Supervisor of the grand temple of Jagannath.
Baithi Karana - The functionary to maintain the account of flags and Pindikas and to look into the Bhoga cooked in the Kitchen. The service is no longer performed.
Balarama - Elder brother of Krisna. He is called Bala because of his excessive strength and Rama because of his handsome appearance.
Bali - Propitiatory oblation to the eight noble souls known as Astta Satvikas such as vlsvasenak Suka, Prahlada, Hanuman, Narada, Vainateya, Devala & Indradyumna; sacrificial object or offering in general.
Balabhadra Akhada - Name of a club-house in Puri. It was established with a view to promoting body building through regular practice of Hatha yoga and fighting for encountering the enemy if situation so demands.
Ba'seli Sa'hi - A small locality in the western side of the Temple, so named after the goddess Ba'seli.
Bedi Hanuman - At a distance of 30 metres to the west of the Cakra Narayana Temple, stands a small temple named after Dana Mahavira (guarding the sea) who is also called Bedi Hanuman in as much as he was fettered sometime by chain.
Bhauma - Terrestrial: of the earth, a royal dynasty of the medieval Orissa,Bhauma Vaikuntha - The terrestrial abode of Visnu; the grave-yard of Visnu.
Bhandara Raksaka - Store-keeper, Custodian of the store.
Bhudevi - Goddess Earth whose figure is generally subsequent to the place of Sarasvati lying close to the side of Visnu.
Bhoga Pariksaka - Supervisor to look into the daily Bhoga to be offered to the deities.
Bhatta - A surname of the Brahmins next to the Samanta in hierarchy.
Bhandara Mekapa - The kee-holder of the store-house and the cus¬todian of gold and silver ornaments kept in the outer cell of the Bhandara for daily use of the deities.
Brahma - Creator of the world.
Brahma - (Supposed) sacred matter in the form of salagrama put inside the body of the deity.
Brahma Purana :- One of the eighteen principal Puranas, composed probably sometime after the 12th Century.
Brahmin Samanta :- The high-rank Brahmins considered superior to theremaining ones in position and status.
Brindavan Das :- Writer of the Caitanya Bhagavata in Bengalee.
Budha Lenka :- Important officer permanently close seated to the Ganga Kings of Orissa. He was an experienced officer like the private secretary at present.
